                     Student Success Statement
                                                           March 26, 2015

" I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong."

                                          Abraham Lincoln

Reflection: I really like this quote because I feel like it was created with such sincerity and honesty. I think what Abraham meant when he wrote this quote was he will support you and be with you as long as you do and think about what is right, and if you start having wrong ideas he will leave. I also believe this meant that he would only be around people who made good choices.
                               April Fool's Day
                                     March 26, 2015

   1.   When is April Fool's Day?
April Fool's Day is on April 1st.

   2. What is the purpose of April Fool's Day?

The purpose of April Fool's Day is a day      dedicated to playing tricks and doing pranks on      people.

3. What are the few theories behind April Fool's Day?

One theory of why April Fool's Day was created into a holiday was because it is a day to celebrate the season change. Another conclusion about the holiday is people thought there  should be a day in which you celebrate when you make your friends and families feel like fools.

 4. What are a few Pros and Cons of April Fool's Day?

       Some good things about April Fool's Day are;
  • You get a good laugh
  • you can pull jokes on people and have an excuse if they get mad
  • it is fun deciding what pranks to play
Some bad things about April Fool's Day are:
  • You or someone else might pass the line and cause a problem
  • Someone might get offended by your joke/prank
  • An argument or prank can result from a bad joke

                      "Character is higher than intellect."

                               Ralph Waldo Emerson

Reflection: I agree with this quote in several different ways. For example, I believe having character is more important than being smart because you can understand, communicate, and have better conversations when you have character. Also, if 2 students were running for Student Body President, one had great grades but no character, and the other one had satisfying grades and a great character, the second candidate is most likely to win.

"I Trust That My Hard Work Will Pay Off."

                                                             Tyler Haws

                                   Basketball Player-Mormon Church Missionary

Reflection: I really like this quote because it has inspired me to set challenging goals for myself and to have faith that accomplish them, In addition, I really like this quote because it has taught me that to achieve a goal all you need is determination and dedication. I really admire Tyler's dedication and choices because he never forgot about his religion, even if he was achieving so many things. I hope I can one day become someone like Tyler Haws.

Jupiter is one of the planets that belongs to our solar system, the Milky Way. It takes the 5th place from being farthest from the Sun and it is the largest planet in the solar system.  Jupiter is known to have dark rings that are made out of dust particles and tiny rocks. Unlike Earth, Jupiter has 63 moons! The 4 largest moons that we know Jupiter has are; Io,Callisto, Europa, and Ganymede. Some of these moons are known to have several volcanoes. On the moon, Europa, scientist are still in debate whether it contains water or not. There are some signs that there is, but nothing has been confirmed.

The weather in Jupiter has always known to be very dangerous and hazardous. It is known, that Jupiter contains storms that last hundreds of years. Jupiter has a place called, "The Great Red Spot." This is a storm that rotates around the planet and it hasn't ended. The storm has lasted roaming Jupiter for several centuries. Scientists have discovered that the wind in Jupiter is typically 360 kph. That is incredibly fast! However, because of these unpredictable storms and weather, scientist can not deeply observe the details of this planet, or identify if there was once life on Jupiter.

                                                             March 18, 2015

Divergent is a book series written by Veronica Roth. The story takes place in Chicago. The people who live there are divided in 5 factions, or groups based on their personality. The brave and strong belong in the Dauntless faction. The people who are clever and intelligent are placed in the Erudite faction. The people who believe in justice, honesty, and order are assigned to the Candor faction. The people who's personalities reflect harmony, happiness, and hope are in Amity. The last faction is Abnegation, these are the people who are selfless and who reject vanity. At the age of 16, you must take an aptitude test. The test puts you threw your fear landscapes and it gives you results on the faction you belong in, based on the way you reacted in the test. However, there is a rare kind of people who get several results, the test can't determine where they belong because their personality is mixed factions. These type of people are called, "Divergent." Many people see Divergent people as a threat because they cannot be controlled or manipulated like the rest. The main 2 characters of the story are Divergent and the books explain there adventures and how they struggled to survive in their manipulated society.

"True independence and freedom can only exist in doing               what's right."

                                     Brigham Young

Reflection: I really like this quote because it is very elaborate and detailed. It explains that you can only truly get freedom and independence when you know and you choose to do what is right. I also really enjoyed this quote because it defines what you must do to earn these privileges, you must choose what is right. In addition, it informs that you cannot earn these things if you are always making mistakes and making bad decisions. You can also lose a lot of privileges like going out with your friends or going to parties if you constantly come home drunk and late. You must do what is right to have freedom and be independent.

There was a student at Olivet Middle School named, Keith. Kieth had a disorder but that didn't stop him from liking football like all the other guys at his school. One day, the football team members decided to do something extra-ordinary. Secretly, Justin, Parker, and the rest of the team members decided to do something very special for Keith. Behind the coaches back, they all planned to make sure Keith played in the game and made a touchdown. it took a few tries, but the time came when the referee blew the whistle, Keith catched the ball, and he did a touchdown!! Everyone was screaming with joy and keith's parents couldn't beleive this was real. the whole team got influenced by this experience.                       George Chapman

The great people are the ones who act with kindness and do not judge.                                      A Gift to Father
                                                        March 2, 2015

He was only a freshman, however his determination to winning and dedication didn't stop him from trying to win. Everyday Mitch would wake up at 6 a.m. to train for the competition. The day came when Mitch was going to compete. Mitch was amazing! He won almost all of his competitors and he made it to State Finals. There was one match left to define whether Mitch would win the championship or end in 2nd place. He knew what he had to do so he was ready to take on the challenge. Mitch tried and concentrated to winning the championship while he was fighting his opponent until the battle ended. That year, the State Wrestler Champion was Mitch McKee! Mitch's father was so proud of what Mitch had accomplished and he knew what really mattered was his son proving how much love he had for him.

I also think that the true beauty, the true strength, and the riches thing, is a right and pure heart.
